Penguin Book Cover Redesign

This design is based on the style of the artist Martin O’Neill. Martin O’Neill is a UK based graphic artist and illustrator who creates unique hand made collages. His work evolves from a fusion of collage, silkscreen, photography, paint, transfers and photocopies. I especially like the way his work has an old-school/retro feel. My cover has a overall light blue/cyan colour scheme, as I wanted it to reflect the known colour associated with “Tiffany’s” but without having any direct Tiffany&Co images.
I chose to recreate this design in the style of Saul Bass. Bass designed emblematic posters that made a stunning visual impact. His work consists of bold colours and cut out style type and images. I kept a theme of red, black and white (similar to some of Saul’s work) and also to represent blood, good and evil.
